Responsibilities include recording and billing of all mutual fund revenue related activity.  This includes recording of accruals for mutual fund management fees, 12b-1, trail and transfer agent fees as well as calculation of related performance fees.  Preparation of all domestic invoices for mutual funds as well as monthly analytics used in monthly reporting process.  Ensuring that the month and/or quarter end close is completed within three to four business days and preparing certain deliverables and supporting schedules for the close review meetings.  Ensuring that month end reconciliations are completed accurately and within set deadlines.  In addition, responsibilities include assisting the Corporate Accounting Supervisors and Manager with any special projects, information requests, year-end requests that are received by the Business Units, Financial Reporting group, Internal Audit, and Deloitte & Touche, the external auditors. The role includes interaction with other members of Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting, Corporate Finance, Tax, Legal and Compliance, and Operations.  This is a detail-oriented position with stringent time deadlines.  A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and the ability to work cyclical overtime is a requirement of this position.

 
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

  • Record, process and invoice mutual fund related revenue: management fees, 12b-1, trails and transfer agent fees as well as calculation of monthly performance fees.  Preparation of all domestic mutual fund invoices.  Preparation and review of monthly analytics used in monthly reporting process.
  • Manage the development and implementation of annual budgets and monthly forecasts for assigned business unit(s) to ensure financial results represent an accurate account of expected activity for the fiscal year.  Ensure budgets and monthly forecasts are completed on a timely basis and represent management goals and expectations for the year.
  • Assist the Corporate Accounting Supervisors and Manager with any special projects, information requests, and requests that are received by Financial Reporting, Business units, Internal Audit and Deloitte & Touche.
  • Complete work associated with the month-end close process. Ensure that all items are entered into SAP in a timely fashion. Review for any unusual fluctuations and investigate and explain these fluctuations and perform account reconciliations.
  • Assist with semi-annual and annual legal entity flux analysis for certain legal entities.
  • Work closely with the Corporate Accounting Supervisor and Finance Systems Group to provide General ledger support to the Corporate Accounting and Financial Reporting teams
 
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 1-2+ years’ experience


ESSENTIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Strong technical skills (i.e., Excel, SAP)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, strong attention to details, and ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Technical accounting knowledge, ability to determine appropriate accounting treatment of new transaction types; financial services industry experience a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills; ability to effectively interact with all levels of management
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
