Job Summary

The Middle Office Analyst may be responsible for a number of functions including Domestic Trade Affirmation, International Trade and FX Affirmation, Trade Settlements, Failed Trade Reporting, Collateral Management, Claim Management, Trade Distribution, Bank Loans, Commissions, Mortgage Pool Substitutions, and Tri Party Repo.  General responsibilities include assisting brokers and custodian banks with trade settlement inquiries, providing service to the Fixed Income and Equity Trading desks.  Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or finance required.  Ideal candidates are organized, detailed oriented and able to perform well in a time sensitive environment. 

The Middle Office Analyst position is open to cover responsibilities that fall under the Settlements and Claims team. The primary duties and responsibilities are the following:                                 

  • Become a proficient user of vendor systems utilized for the management of trade fails; including Fail Station.
  • Ensure that all parties (Broker and Custodian) are submitting fail reports no less than on a daily basis.
  • Prioritize the research and resolution of high risk fails; including trade fail orphans (high risk where only one party to the trade recognizes the fail), short positions and same day settlements.
  • Process mortgage pool change requests while adhering to the industry standard daily deadline of 12:15 pm.  Requires research to confirm accuracy and an end of day reconciliation of all executed changes.
  • Track and reconcile all potential TMPG claims.  Report all claims by the 10th business day of the month.  Liaise with brokers to ensure that all claims are paid out and received by the end of the following month.
  • Work as a liaison for the FI, Equity and Money Market trading desks by researching and responding to their trade inquires and other business questions that they might have.
  • Liaise with counterparties, Institutional Clients, Investment Management, Accounting, Reporting, Legal, Compliance, and IT teams to facilitate the launch of new products, security types and/or Institutional Client Accounts.
  • Foster a strong team work environment. In addition to daily fail related responsibilities, the analyst may be asked to cross train on other various Middle Office Services functions to diversify their knowledge and skill sets.

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or finance preferred.  Ideal candidates are organized, detailed oriented and able to perform well in a time sensitive environment.
